Dear brethren, the peace of God.

Clarification to the Church about Halloween

Halloween has its origins in pagan practices, which were rituals of worship to various gods and superstitions performed before the arrival of Christianity. During that time, it was believed that the dead could return to earth on Halloween night, both for good and evil. To protect themselves, they thought that a pumpkin could scare bad spirits.

Although today Halloween is seen by many as simply a fun costume party, its origin is strongly connected to occultism and practices that seek to connect with evil spiritual forces. The use of costumes and symbols of death and terror have roots in these rituals, which involved attempts at control and protection against the spiritual world.

Halloween and Occultism

Occultism is any practice that seeks supernatural power or knowledge outside of God. This includes witchcraft, divination, contacting spirits, and other ways of invoking forces that do not come from the Holy Spirit. Halloween, from its origins, is deeply connected to these practices. The traditions of wearing costumes to trick spirits, decorating with pumpkins, and the themes of death and fear are reflections of a connection with the supernatural in a way that does not glorify God.

The Word of God Condemns Occultism

The Bible is very clear about rejecting occult practices. In Deuteronomy 18:10-12, the Lord warns that there should not be among His people anyone who practices witchcraft, consults spirits, or engages in any act related to occultism. These practices are called abominations.

Moreover, in Ephesians 5:11, we are instructed “And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them”. Halloween is a celebration that glorifies fear, the supernatural, and the occult, and as Christians, we must distance ourselves from these practices.

Our Counsel

Even though Halloween may seem harmless, it is based on practices that are not aligned with the Christian faith. We advise the congregation not to participate in Halloween, as it celebrates elements of occultism and the supernatural that goes against the teachings of Christ. God doesn’t want us to take lightly things concerning magic or bad spirits, because they do not please Him.

In Christ’s love,

The Ministry.
